The cost of spraying depends on the following:

· What adulticide you intend to chose ( a costly one or a cheaper one)
· You would be doing it in-house or through a contractor
· If you hire a contractor the cost varies from one
contractor to another depending on the services provided.

What we have done in Ontario province is to have a contingency
arrangement by buying our own foggers and malathion and make
arrangements through a licensed pesticide application operator (a
pest control company) to operate the units (a single unit is one
fogger) in the event of some unforeseen circumstances like focal
outbreaks / epidemic like situation. We flow a tender and get the
quote from these licensed operators to operate the unit and it would
be per hour basis.

Seems to me the question is not just cost per 1,000 acres; but
effectiveness of cost per 1,000. If we don't achieve much that is
useful or effective, and in some instances may be deleterious, the
cost is even larger.
