WNV Surveillance Improves Detection of EEE (2)

From: Michael Gochfeld <gochfeld_at_eohsi.rutgers.edu>
Date: July 07 2003

"Although equine encephalitis rarely affects people, it can be more
deadly than West Nile. Since 1964, there have been 153 confirmed
human cases of the disease."

Is this a case of double-speak or media mis-information. EE is MUCH
MORE DEADLY than WN, and it also has a
predilection for children with a high case fatality rate.
