Lois asked me to forward two messages that I had sent to the 4-H
Educators listserv about a mosquito publication for youth available from
Clemson University.<br>

Announcing a general information Mosquito project for youth<br>
<br>
</b>Many counties are looking for project materials to use in connection
with West Nile Virus. Carolyn Klass (Department of Entomology) has been
reviewing materials and is also in the process of developing a packet of
youth materials that will be specific to West Nile Virus. Clemson
University Extension has a 1999 publication called Mosquito Patrol.
There is a member and leader guide, as well as a door hanger.
Carolyn says these are good general information materials about
mosquitoes to use with youth, but cautions that they are not specific to
West Nile Virus. The member guide includes a site survey activity
for youth. <br>
<br>
To order go to the Clemson website publication page at
<a href="http://cufan.clemson.edu/olos/" eudora="autourl">http://cufan.clemson.edu/olos/</a><br>
Log in as a guest<br>
Do a title search for "mosquito"<br>
You should have a page come up where you can check the Mosquito Patrol
materials<br>
Go to the checkout and fill in the form<br>
There is not a charge for these materials, but you are limited to
ordering one of each<br>
When you get to the bottom of the form and it asks you for credit card
information put "N/A" (without the quotation marks) in each of
the blanks.<br>

Clemson University Extension has generously made available pdf files for
the Mosquito Patrol project so that counties can make copies of this
project. As announced a few days ago, you can also go to the
Clemson Extension Publications web page and order one free copy of the
project materials. I ordered a set a few days ago and it has
already arrived. They did not print a large quantity of materials and
therefore do not have them in quantity to sell.<br>
<br>
The links to the pdf files are on the State 4-H website at
<a href="http://www.cce.cornell.edu/youth/4h/" eudora="autourl">http://www.cce.cornell.edu/youth/4h/</a><br>
Go to "What's New" and then go to "West Nile Virus 4-H
Youth Development Resources". There are links that will take
you to a Clemson website that holds the pdf files. You can print a copy
that you can then make additional copies from. If you have trouble
accessing the pdf files contact me.<br>
<br>
The Editor at Clemson also sent me PageMaker files for the door hanger
that goes with the project. If there is a demand for these I could
see if we could get a large quantity printed here on campus by Media
Services. Let me know if there is interest in doing that.<br>
