The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has developed a WNV
site that has brochures in both English and Spanish.
http://www.kdhe.state.ks.us/westnile/ Just click on the button for
EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS and you can see both brochures. Hope this is
helpful.

Hello Dr. Haramis
I am an encephalitis survivor, and creator of the Encephaltis Global
website. I was a guest speaker to Congress in Washington DC in
October 2004 on the topic of West Nile. More recently, I gave an 8
minute presentation at the American Mosquito Control Association
(AMCA) Annual Meeting in Vancouver Canada. As a non-professional,
my presentation is very matter-of-fact, and straight to the point.
The presentation is titled, "What is encephalitis, anyways?"
People in the audience seemed very interested in further discussion
after my presentation; I've actually put some information in the post
mail to them. One of the audience did ask if there is some way I
could repeat this presentation to more AMCA members and/or members of
the public.
I have recorded this speech online to share audio/video... I would
also be happy to give the presentation live online, if there is any
interest. Would there be interest in online meetings, sharing
audio, video and typed chat...or perhaps, an online chatroom on this
topic? As a member of the Admin staff with the <>iVisit chat
program, I would be proud to volunteer to assist in the setup and
organization of same, and to sponsor this chatroom at no charge.
(PS... I'm over 50, too!)

--- In response to: From: "LINN HARAMIS" <LHARAMIS@idph.state.il.us> Subject: West Nile virus educational materials aimed at those over 50 This is a request for samples of West Nile virus educational materials aimed at those over 50 (an URL address is fine) One of the main topics of discussion at the recent CDC WNV conference was effective use of public information for prevention. At least two of the speakers (one a communication consultant) stated that they believed the message that many Health Departments were distributing was too "complex" and needed to be simplified. see <http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/westnile/conf/2005pdf/Bye_session.pdf> and <http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/westnile/conf/2005pdf/ westmorelandsess5.pdf> One method of simplification was targeting high risk groups, those over 50. If you have such materials, I would appreciate a copy -- just giving me a URL is fine. Thank you in advance.
