Re: Print Media Coverage of West Nile Virus Risks.

In regards to a few of the recent postings (all of which had some excellent numbers to report), we mention a couple of potential clarifications. We make no assertions about the extent to which West Nile virus has or has not been over hyped (it is an obviously important health threat, as are EEE, STE, dengue, and malaria, etc.), or about the relative risk of pesticides (there are data indicating that modulated pesticide use is indeed an important tool in combatting insect-borne disease). Our topic is specifically presentation of data on contextual precision in the print media, and a suggestion that with contextually precise numbers, citizens may be able to make more informed decisions.
