WNV subclinical cases

Lois raises an interesting discuss about subclinical WNV infections. According to a discussion at the recent National Syndromic Surveillance Conference with Steven Davis of Verispan company, there was a large spike in pharmaceutical sales in Cook County, Illinois, that coincided with the WNV epidemic there. This suggests a large number of subclinical cases that caused people to seek medical care&.and perhaps exacerbated some other medical condition, as the drug sales were apparently not just for one type of agent (such as pain/fever reducers).
