Student seeking WNV vaccine data

Date: Wed, 13 Nov 2002

Hello,

I am a prevet student in Georgia who is working to become an equine vet. I also work at an equine clinic here and we have seen 7 cases of WNV this year. Anyhow, for an immunology course, I am comparing the development and efficacy of the formalin-killed equine vaccine and the recombinant one being developed for humans. I am having trouble finding detailed information on the WNV vaccine, specifically the immune response (e.g., neutralizing antibodies; memory cells) provoked by the killed vaccine. Is any of Ft. Dodge's data publically available (they have not responded to me on this)? Also, is it valid to assume the response is similar to that seen with other flaviviruses, or could anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for your help,
Scott Lewis
